ShopFloor Design was founded and is run by David Whippen.  Originally from Massachusetts, David moved to San Francisco for graduate school in 2004.  Since then, David has built a shop in the Dogpatch of San Francisco for himself, as well as other local designers and artists to build and create.

ShopFloor Design focuses on custom metalwork, from custom design pieces and fine art sculpture to fabrication and machining.  

In 2014, David and his wife Christina expanded the shop to include a showroom, ShopFloor, which exhibits not only their own work, but local and national designers with a focus on custom built, limited production design. The newly expanded space also houses a craft microbrewery, Harmonic.
